    MORE ABOUT ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

MV4NY is a Partnering Steward of Ruppert Park in the Yorkville neighborhood of Manhattan. We host semi-annual stewardship days to beautify and clean the park in partnership with New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and Partnership for Parks (PFP).

These events provide opportunities for the community to nurture their green spaces through planting activities to sustain and enhance the foliage and the beauty of the Park, as well engaging in eco-friendly arts and crafts.

We also host summer events including concerts and child-friendly activities to engage our neighbors and the community.

During the pandemic we conducted virtual programming to keep educating people about the importance of protecting our city’s urban green spaces and promoting environmental sustainability. We presented at multiple online venues to highlight the importance of utilizing novel ways to engage the community in nurturing our parks. We also organized a virtual evening incorporating eco friendly arts crafts, live music by an acclaimed composer, interactive read aloud of ‘Curious George plants a tree’ and ending the evening with the key note speaker, Naila, a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient, who shared her efforts to get plastic bags banned in her community.
